Cellular signal transduction is the process by which a chemical or physical signal is transmitted through a cell as a series of molecular events, which ultimately results in a cellular response. The changes elicited by ligand binding in receptor give rise to a signaling cascade, which is a chain of biochemical events along a signaling pathway. These pathways form networks and are the basic mechanisms controlling cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, metabolism and many other processes. This course is useful for students to understand regulation mechanisms in organisms. |
